Bringing Padel to South Ayrshire

Prestwick Tennis & Fitness, a not-for-profit organisation at the heart of our community, is excited to announce its latest initiative: bringing Padel, one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK and Europe, to South Ayrshire.

Our mission is simple: “Accessible, family-friendly sport and fitness opportunities for all.” The introduction of Padel represents the next step in fulfilling that mission, providing a fresh, inclusive, and social sporting option for the local community.

Why Padel?

Padel is a racket sport enjoyed by all ages and abilities. Played as doubles on a smaller, enclosed court, it encourages social interaction, teamwork, and physical activity in a fun and accessible environment. By adding Padel to our existing tennis and fitness programmes, Prestwick Tennis & Fitness aims to:

  • Offer affordable classes for adults and juniors.
  • Provide regular opportunities for local schools to try this exciting sport.
  • Include Padel in our LD/Disability programme, ensuring accessibility for everyone.
  • Promote inter-generational play.

South Ayrshire currently has no Padel courts—Prestwick will proudly be the first. The new courts will be available for members and the wider community, encouraging active, social, and healthy lifestyles.

Benefits to the Community

  • Free lessons for local children (subject to project success)
  • Low-cost access for families, schools, and community groups
  • Inclusive programmes for people with disabilities
  • Year-round sporting activity thanks to covered courts and floodlights
  • Opportunities to host local events, tournaments, and charity initiatives

Planning permission is in place and we are currently in the process of raising sufficient funds to enable to project to go ahead. We are planning covered, floodlit Padel courts with integrated programmes, allowing play and coaching all year round.
