Colin Dunbar – Head Coach

LTA Senior Performance Coach Level 4

I have been coaching for almost 30years, in which time I have been a District/County Coach and Club Development Officer. I’ve had the pleasure of coaching GBR National champions and Scottish National champions. I love seeing players progress at every level and getting to know every player as a person on their journey. I’ve been very proud to represent South of Scotland at county level over many years and love working with the team at Prestwick. My favourite shot is my backhand slice and have loved watching players like Marat Safin and Tommy Haas as favourite players. Currently my favourite players are Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniel Altmaier

LTA Level 3 Performance

I have played tennis since I was 7 and have been coaching for over a decade. I feel very fortunate to be in a position where I am able to coach at such a brilliant facility within such a strong coaching team helping to promote this great game to players of all ages and abilities. To me the most rewarding part of coaching is seeing people achieve things they didn’t think they could. Whether it’s winning matches or simply hitting the ball for the first time I take great satisfaction in playing a role in that process!

LTA Performance Level 3 Tennis

I’ve been playing tennis at Prestwick since I was 3 and have gradually progressed into a coaching role at the club. I have recently completed an honours degree in Sports Coaching and Development, where I have studied a variety of coaching/teaching methods. Three factors I value most when coaching and working with players are:

•Respect
•Enjoyment
•Positive attitude

I look forward to making a positive impact at Prestwick and continue to help players develop their skills.

LTA level 3 Performance

I’ve been playing tennis for 15 years and coaching for 5 years. I’ve had a lot of experience as a player, representing the South of Scotland County Team in both Junior and Men’s age groups.  I am currently part of the Great Britain Learning Disability National Squad and in 2019 I won the Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles event and came runner up in the Men’s Doubles event at the INAS Global Games in Brisbane, Australia. I’ve had the privilege to work with great players and coaches and keen to learn more about myself as a player and coach and help other players achieve their goals.

LTA Level 2 Performance

I have played tennis at Prestwick since the age of 3. I represented the club as a player and then later as an Assistant Coach. I was part of the 2018 Tennis Scotland Apprenticeship Programme and have been a full time coach at Prestwick ever since. I have experience coaching players from red ball through to yellow, and particularly enjoy taking the Tots Tennis classes. My goal as a coach is to provide enjoyable and insightful tennis lessons to anyone of any age or any ability. My favourite tennis player ever is Rafael Nadal and growing up I made sure I always used the same rackets as he did. My favourite shot is a drop shot and my favourite tennis moment was watching Emma Raducanu win the US Open in 2021.

LTA Assistant – Level 1

I have been playing tennis since the age of 5 and have always loved the game. I spent 4 years in the states at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee playing Division 1 college tennis whilst earning a degree, and at the end of 2021 I won the Scottish National Championships. I want to use everything I’ve learned over the years to help players at Prestwick develop their game and become more confident. I enjoy learning from the other coaches at the club to improve my own ability to work with a variety of players.
