INITIAL BENCH PRESS SET-UP ![]()
1) Position the bench so that when lying down & the bar is on the rack hooks your “eyes are under the bar” - this will ensure that when doing reps you can maintain a natural range of motion without the bar striking the hooks when you don’t want them to. As in the photo your hands should be slightly behind you when racking the bar.![]()
2) Adjust the hooks in the rack so that you can easily rack the bar at the end of your set but also have them high enough so that it is impossible to accidentally place the bar on the very top of the hooks where it obviously wouldn’t be safely supported.
